This year’s Snow Miku statue is larger than the past few years.

Limited Snow Miku products such as T-shirts and stickers are sold

at the Sapporo Snow Festival Odori site.

When I visited there, it seemed people who wanted to buy Snow Miku goods

had to wait, standing on a line, for two hours!

There was a statue of Snow Miku at the Sapporo railway station, too

(though not made of snow).

Toyako Manga Anime Festa 2012

“Toyako Manga Anime Festa 2012” has begun !

So we visited Lake Toya today to take a look at the festival.

The festival has various events including “cosplaying ” and “itasha exhibition”.

“Itasha” literally means “ouch car” and refers to a car having a picture of

manga or anime characters  on its body.

In “cosplaying”, people dress up in the costumes of their favorite anime, manga,

and movie characters.

The picture above shows the reception desk for “Itasha”.

This “itasha” features Hatsune Miku et al.

A lot of itashas!

Why are many itashas Subaru’s Imprezza or Mitsubishi’s Lancer Evolution?

Many people are also enjoying “cosplay” at the site.

We saw Hatsune Miku, Super Mario, One Piece characters, Gin-san in Gin Tama, and

a lot more!

This itasha seems to be a taxi.  Is it a real taxi!?

A special “maid cafe” opens only for 2 days during the festival.

Maid cafe is a cosplay cafe where waitresses wear maid costumes.

This cafe is one of the reasons we went there, because a girl we know well is working as a “maid”

at this cafe.

This is the entrance of the maid cafe.

This building is usually used as a restaurant named “Okadaya”.

Special “Dorayaki” (rice cake with azuki bean paste in it) are sold only 100 per day

during the 2 day festival  in front of the maid cafe.

The package says “cosplay save the world”!

At the maid cafe, when a customer orders “omlet-rice”, a maid draws a picture with ketchup

in front of the customer.

This is a picture of Hatsune Miku that our maid drew for us.

Drinks and parfaits come with certain words from a maid.

I ordered strawberry parfait, and it was served with the words, “I heartily prepared

this one especially for you”.

My husband ordered chocolate parfait, which came with the words, “This was not

particularly for you that I prepared this one” with mockingly cool attitude.

Isn’t it fun?

Looking at Lake Toya through the window of the cafe.

You can see a pleasure boat sailing on Lake Toya.

My dog was apparently sleepy on my lap.

And soon she fell asleep.

Wow, a Snow Miku mouse pad can be a good pillow for a dog!

Hokkaido limited versions of Chopper and Hatsune Miku

March 23, 2012 2 comments

If you are looking for a souvenir that is available only in Hokkaido,

how about this one — Hokkaido local versions of Chopper of “One Piece”.

There are many kinds of choppers!

Hokkaido melon Chopper, Hokkaido ramen Chopper, Hokkaido deer Chopper…

And these are Snow Miku × Hello Kitty character goods.

Snow Miku, a local version (or should I say seasonal version?) of Hatsune Miku

teamed up with Hello Kitty for a line of Hatsune Miku character goods including

Snow Miku Kitty handkerchief, Snow Miku Kitty socks, Snow Miku Kitty ball point pen…

All those goods are sold at a souvenir shop “Shikisai-kan”, next to the west ticket gate

of Sapporo JR station.
