Furano Ski Resort!

One of the most famous ski resorts in Hokkaido.

The resort has had the FIS Alpine Ski World Cups in the past

and Snowboarding World Cups in recent years.

You can command a great view of Tokachi mountain range and the town of Furano

from the top of the ski slope.

You can see the ski slope in the distance.

The gondola takes you from the foot of the mountain to the top in 15 minutes.

“Ningle Terrace” has many cottage shops, where they sell handicrafts

and special local products.

This is a good place for finding souvenirs as well as walking around.

This year’s Sapporo snow festival has again the Snow Miku event.

“Snow Miku” is the Sapporo winter version of Hatsune Miku.

This year’s Snow Miku statue is larger than the past few years.

Limited Snow Miku products such as T-shirts and stickers are sold

at the Sapporo Snow Festival Odori site.

When I visited there, it seemed people who wanted to buy Snow Miku goods

had to wait, standing on a line, for two hours!

There was a statue of Snow Miku at the Sapporo railway station, too

(though not made of snow).

Horse Hot Spring Bath in Monbetsu

January 31, 2014 Leave a comment

tonekko 1

This big signboard says “Tonekko no Yu”, a hot spring facility in Monbetsu.

“Tonekko no Yu” means “Bath of Tonekko”, and Tonekko is a one year old horse.

Monbetsu town is famous for the production of racing horses, thus this name,

and the picture of a horse on the signboard.

(Though it’s definitely a hot spring bath for humans, not for horses.)

A cream puff that I bought at the shop in the “Tonekko no yu” building.

It is called “bafu shu”, which means “horse-droppings cream puff”!!

(well, because of its shape, I guess…)

Fu’s Snow Area 2014

FU's 1

A good day for skiing! This is “Fu’s Snow Area” in Sapporo.

Only a 30 minute drive from downtown Sapporo.

FU's 2

A good view from the (nearly) top of the hill.

FU's 3

The temperature was minus 7 degrees Celsius, but thanks to the sunshine

(and no wind), it didn’t feel so cold out there.

Attack on Titan

Attack on Titan 0

I found “Corporal Levi’s tea cookies” at a convenience store.

Apparently Corporate Levi doesn’t know how to handle a teacup handle.

.
.
.

Attack on Titan 2

Books I read on the new year’s day were those comics titled “Attack on Titan”.

Corporate Levi is one of the main characters in it.

Once I started reading, it was so interesting and I couldn’t stop.

(depictions of violence are sometimes too brutal, so I wouldn’t recommend this

to everyone, but still fascinating comics to read.)

Next I have to watch the anime version!
